We are delighted to announce that Madlug is officially Northern Ireland's first lifestyle brand to receive B Corp status.

For those wondering what a B Corp is…

The B Corp certification is essentially the business equivalent to the Fair Trade certification for goods. It’s a relatively new concept but a movement which is growing rapidly. Madlug joins over 2,000 certified B Corps, including Patagonia, BrewDog and TOMS.

Since the start, we have aimed to use our business as a force for good with one of our core values being that we care about people and planet.

Having completed the B Impact Assessment last year, we made various changes to ensure we live up to these values. For example, we have expanded our eco range to include more products made using recycled and responsible materials, we have taken steps to ensure that we are a real living wage employer, and have created policies around waste management and now recycle more of our waste using a recycle company.

We also recently created the Madlug Foundation, a registered charity, to ensure that profits are maximised for the benefit of children in care.

The assessment is a public benchmark our performance (take a look how we scored here!) As you can see, Madlug earned an overall score of 98.4 – scoring well above the average score of 50.9 which we are extremely happy about.

As we continue to innovate, we will use this as a baseline of which to grow from and hope to see our score improve even further with time.

Being a registered community interest company social enterprise and now a certified B Corp demonstrates that our commitment is more than just words.
