What does B-Corp actually look like?

March is B Corp Month, a time when businesses around the world celebrate what it means to put purpose over profit. As the first lifestyle brand in Northern Ireland to achieve B Corp status, we don’t just view this as a badge on our website, but as a powerful reminder of how we show up in the world.

For us, being a Certified B Corp and a Community Interest Company (CIC) is about accountability. It means we’ve committed to high standards for our people, our planet, and most importantly, the children and young people in care across the UK.

Here’s what we’ve been up to behind the scenes:

  • Looking after the team: We’re a Real Living Wage employer. We believe that if we’re advocating for dignity, we need to start by treating our own team with that same respect and support.

  • Lightening our footprint: We’ve ditched plastic shipping mailers for 100% biodegradable paper versions. Beyond packaging, we are constantly auditing our supply chain to ensure our materials are as ethical and low-impact as possible.

  • Advocacy Beyond the Product: We’re doing more than just giving bags; we’re building a community that listens. We’re using our platform to raise awareness about the systemic challenges facing the care system, specifically how we can better support young people as they transition into adulthood and independent living.

By making a simple swap and choosing to buy from Madlug, a pack-away travel bag is given to a child or young person in care for free. So that they can move with dignity, and not bin bags.

Your choice to shop with Madlug has double the impact. You're helping us use better, more sustainable materials that protect the environment, while also making sure a young person in care feels valued.

Thank you for being part of the movement, and for helping us look after both the planet and the people on it.
